First, we had a dream to help the community and maybe save a life or two.
We could purchase a defibrillator and place it where it could be used if
someone was having a heart attack. We would start raising the necessary
funds by taking some of the money from the events we held and donating
them to the "Defibrillator Fund".
In the end we donated over $900 of the $1,500+ needed to purchase the defibrillator
through the functions we held.
Bingo joined us and played a special game just for the purpose of donating
half of the revenues of that game to the fund.
Then the community as a whole stepped up and gave the balance to make the
defibrillator a reality.
Several folks have been trained to become operators of the machine by the
Clermont Fire Department and the defibrillator has been placed in the ballroom
near the double doorway that leads into the main hallway closest to the
stage. Always remember the first rule, though, CALL 911 FIRST, then ask if one of the trained operators is in the ballroom or the clubhouse.
